This crown of stars they cannot see
bears the power that burns and shines within my fiery soul
a legacy of all my mothers and sisters lines
endless in their hazy stretch back through time
And yet
I bury my brightness to this world
wrap it in white but all the spots from my dirty heart peek out
and distracting myself with thought and logic cannot erase
these soul stains on my shirt
So here I lay broken and shattered on the ground
with the swords of their lies and lechery
the swords of what they call duty and destiny
the swords that demand I be proper
demure
calm
beautiful
delicate
woman
This world was not built for me so I make mine the empire within
forged by my own heart’s blood and thought
untouchable for the would-be conquerors vying to smash it down to ash
all to take
this crown of stars they cannot see
